Hurrah! A brand-new artisan chocolate!

Alan McClure, the proprietor of Patric Chocolate, has released his first bar. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and represents well over two years of full time effort. It’s a 70% Madagascar bar, and I’ll be posting a review as soon as I can do some thoughtful tasting. Meanwhile, support the artisan chocolate movement by ponying up $5.75 and judge Alan’s efforts for yourself! You can check out my interview with Alan here.

You can also read Alan’s musings on the chocolate process on his blog here. He’s a true expert, having immersed himself in modern and antique scholarship about chocolate. It’s a good read. His history of fine dark chocolate is a good place to start.
