Tava’s Ethical Chocolate

Tava is a chocolate maker started in Australia by Langdon Stevenson and Samantha Madell, and founded on the principles of ethical trade. Their site, in addition to selling nibs and a 100% cacao bar based on beans from Vanautu, has a great article on growing cacao and some inspirational stories on the lengths that they’ve gone to in order to obtain cacao beans directly from the growers.

Tava's 100% Cacao BarTava is unusual in that they sell nibs and beans as well as a bar. I’m hoping to have an interview with Samantha Madell about their philosophy and practices posted in the near future. Meanwhile, the site is a fascinating window into how personal and thoughtful a company can be.

Great to hear about another well founded ethical chocolate company amidst the chaos and malpractice in this industry. I have recently come across Montezumas in the UK who are well worth a look.
